Robotic Radical Prostatectomy

Minimally Invasive Ports

Removal of the prostate for cancer through small incisions in the abdomen. The surgeon performs the operation with the assistance of a highly sophisticated robot for greater precision. This approach is associated with a faster recovery, improved cosmesis, and less blood loss than the open technique. In addition, laparoscopy offers improved visualization of essential structures such as the neurovascular bundles and blood vessels. This may potentially lead to improved outcomes in erectile function and urinary control.

Dr. Pankaj Kalra has completed a fellowship in robotic and laparoscopic surgery. He is the Director of Robotic Surgery at Phoenixville Hospital, and one of the first surgeons in the region to perform robotic prostatectomy.
